Claude Skill #2
Build a Brand Book
This Claude Skill builds you your own brand book - visual identity and tone-of-voice guidelines for your brand - based on your own logo, website, and inputs.
A Claude Skill is a set of instructions that teaches Claude an exact process for a specific task - instead of explaining it from scratch every time, you "install" it once and Claude can use it on its own from then on.
- A Claude account - the free plan is enough.
- The Claude Skill installed - exact steps below.
- Your inputs, if you have them - a logo (image file), your website address, or exact colors as hex codes. If you have none of that, Claude will suggest colors and a font based on how you describe your brand.
- Work through all the steps Claude asks you about - vision, values, target audience, tone of voice, logo, colors, and visual style.
- The result is a finished brand book in PDF (plus an editable HTML version) - a multi-page document tailored exactly to your answers, not a generic template with a logo dropped in.
- Done! I'd genuinely like to hear how it went and what could be improved.
- In your Claude settings, make sure Code execution and file creation is turned on (Settings → Capabilities on Free/Pro/Max, or Organization settings → Skills on Team/Enterprise).
- Go to Customize → Skills.
- Click "+" then "+ Create skill" → "Upload a skill".
- Upload the file you downloaded above. (It's actually a ZIP archive with a .skill extension - if the upload doesn't accept it, just rename the extension to .zip.)
- The skill appears in your skills list and turns on automatically. From then on, just ask Claude something like "build me a brand book" and it'll offer to use the skill.
If you're using Cowork, it's even simpler - just click the attached file and hit "Save skill".
Cover page, vision and positioning, values, target audiences, tone of voice with "yes/no" examples, logo rules, a color palette with rationale, typography, visual style, and what's forbidden - all assembled from your own answers, in your own colors.
